Dragonflies is an exciting innovative project that has been developed to support children and young people aged 5-16 years who have been or are in the process of being bereaved.
Based on the Winston's Wish model of delivery Dragonflies aim to offer positive forward looking sessions to help children and young people take steps along their personal bereavement journeys.
Imaginative and progressive sessions will include creative therapy using a variety of art and play. Memory boxes / books, poetry, storytelling and dressing-up.
As well as providing group sessions for children and young people, Dragonflies will be looking to help parents develop their own support networks facilitated by the project.

How do children and young people
get this support?

Parents/carers, professionals, schools and other agencies coming into contact with children and young people in the process of being bereaved, or who are bereaved, can refer them to the Dragonfies Project.

Initial referrals can be made by telephone, letter or by visiting us. A home assessment visit will follow prior to allocating a place at Dragonflies.

Meet fortnightly, on a Friday at the Robsack Community Centre from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The aim of the group is to present an informal place to meet for people affected by cancer; to share stories over tea/coffee, with cakes; and signpost to other services that may be appropriate.

You don't have to have cancer to attend the group. The group also welcome people who know someone with cancer - maybe you don't know how to talk about cancer and express your feelings or how to listen to others talking about theirs.

Next meetings 9th and 23rd November
